Alan D. Schreiber, M.D. is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ZaBeCor. He has been affiliated with ZaBeCor since 2002. Dr. Schreiber is the author of approximately 45 U.S. and international patents, either issued or pending, all of which have been licensed exclusively to ZaBeCor. He previously served as the Assistant Dean for Research and Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, as well as the director of a large, well-funded immunology laboratory. Dr. Schreiber, who has been awarded several concurrent National Institute of Health research grants, also is an authority on white cell function with more than 200 published scientific articles in the field. Dr. Schreiber also serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Biothorpe Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of ZaBeCor focused on cancer therapeutics. He was the Scientific Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of CorBec Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company he helped co-found and that was acquired by InKine Pharmaceutical Co., Inc. (now Salix Pharmaceuticals).
Zack Friedman is a member of the board of directors and has been affiliated with ZaBeCor since 2004. Previously, Mr. Friedman worked at Morgan Stanley & Co. in the investment banking division. Mr. Friedman also has worked in the corporate law departments of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as well as O’Melveny & Myers, and in real estate private equity at Lubert-Adler Partners. His transactional experience includes principal investing, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other securities offerings. Mr. Friedman also serves as a member of the board of directors of Biothorpe Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of ZaBeCor focused on cancer therapeutics. Mr. Friedman graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and earned an MPP from Harvard University. Mr. Friedman received a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Zachary Meisel, M.D., MPH is a member of the board of directors and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he also is on faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Meisel also serves as a member of the board of directors of Biothorpe Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of ZaBeCor focused on cancer therapeutics. Dr. Meisel has a wide range of experience treating patients requiring acute care including asthma, allergy, infections and arthritis. He received his B.A. from Columbia University and holds M.D. and MPH degrees from Johns Hopkins.
John S. White is a member of the board of directors and has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. White has held several senior executive positions with AIG Advisor Group, a unit of AIG. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of DCC Securities and worked in international strategic planning for Merck & Co., Inc. Mr. White is a certified public accountant and has worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. White also is certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors and by the Director’s Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. Since 1993, he has served as a member of the board of directors of Resource America, Inc., where he is Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of Biothorpe Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of ZaBeCor focused on cancer therapeutics. Previously, he served as a member of the board of directors of TRM Corporation and Atlas America.
